“The little boy Hannibal died in 1945 out there in the snow trying to save his sister. His heart died with Mischa. What is he now? There’s not a word for it yet. For lack of a better word, we’ll call him a monster.”

As much as people say Hannibal Rising is the weakest of the series I’ve got to disagree, I feel Hannibal was far longer than it needed to be and whilst Hannibal Rising has got some tonal differences to the other three books it is to be expected. Hannibal is growing into the monster he will become in this one, and although it is slow in areas the trauma he experiences is so fascinating in how it relates to what he does in the future. 🌿🌻
