A Mind Spread Out on the Ground by Alicia Elliott

challenging dark emotional informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

This was an incredible read that is beyond words, but feels like it's something I should speak about. Elliott explores a variety of deeply personal experiences and traumas, presenting them both within the specificity of her life and the broad context of colonialism. This memoir skillfully captures the scope of colonialism, racism, capitalist oppression, and other violent systems, while also reminding readers of the very real human lives tangled at their intersections.

An extremely difficult and necessary read. Highly recommend.
