We met last month to discuss this for my IRL book club! This light hearted and fun book was great given everything else going on. It was enjoyable but I found the ending a little 🙄.
Daphne is very isolated in her older age and decides to join the Senior Citizen’s Social Club. She never expected to bond with these eclectic group: from a failed actor to a Banksy-style knit artist, these are people she’d never imagined she’d be friends with. The group bands together to save the Community Center from being sold, helping each other with personal things along the way.
I really liked this rag tag group of seniors. I also really enjoyed the alternating POVs. The plot moved quickly and was delightful while also addressing some in depth subjects. Where this books lost some stars for me was the last 50 pages, when a plot twist was so crazy I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. I also found some of the humor forced. But if you’re looking for a joyful book, pick this one up.
✨Content Warnings: Grief, Physical Abuse, Infidelity, Infertility, Violence, Pregnancy
