Sometimes books are extremely overhyped. However, this book definitely lives up to its hype, oh my fucking god. I loved absolutely everything about it and I’m already considering rereading it.
First of all, the characters were *chefs kiss*. Violet was such a strong and admirable FMC. I loved how determined she was to prove she was more than just a frail little girl, and damn did she succeed. She is smart, empathic, courageous, and feisty. I loved how snarky she could be. AND XADEN? Dear lord, new book boyfriend. People call him Xaddy for a reason. On the outside, he’s the intimidating and unapproachable son of a traitor who was assumed to be out for revenge. But deep down, he’s incredibly loyal, selfless, and caring. And his love for Violet, omfg. We love a man who shows his love through actions, and DAMN does he do so.
Oh, and the romance was simply slow-burn enemies-to-lovers PERFECTION. You could physically FEEL the tension between Vi and Xaden every step of the way and when it finally happens it was explosive and amazing. I just love them so much and it's hard to put into words hahaha.
Dain can honestly go fuck himself. I knew I didn’t like him from the beginning because I could not stand the way he coddled Violet and treated her like a child. BUT THENNNNN. Fuck Dain.
I loved many of the side characters as well, especially those that played the biggest roles in Violet’s found family. Liam has my heart, and I also loved Rhiannon. They are such incredible friends to Violet and it made my heart so full.
I literally want Andarna to be my lifelong companion. She is a precious angel and she can do no wrong and must be protected at all costs. And Tairn is like a sassy wise grandpa. Some of his quotes had me rolling!
Okay moving on from the characters. This was just such a fun read. The plot was engaging, the story was perfectly paced, the world-building was easy to understand, and I found it easy to visualize almost everything being described. The last 20% of the book had me hanging on the edge of my seat and HOLY SHIT. THAT ENDING? I should have seen it coming but I swear to god, my jaw smacked the floor when I read the last 3 lines. An absolutely perfect cliffhanger, honestly. And I cannot wait to get my hands on book two in November.
This book was incredible and SO WORTH the read.
The hype is real, just read it already.
"I am the sky and the power of every storm that has ever been. I am infinite."
