Live Nude Girl: My Life as an Object by Kathleen Rooney

4.0

I've always wondered about the models in life drawing class, so this was brain candy. More melancholy than I was expecting, but exactly what I was hoping it would be: a deep, thorough, sometimes unflatteringly honest and always interesting behind-the-scenes of what goes on in an art model's mind and emotions as he or she models. She explores body image, mortality, vanity, eroticism, sisterhood, scholarly interpretations of nudity over time, and a hundred other things (with lots of scholarly and literary quotes and citations too, if that's your thing).
