This was such a beautiful read. It was so haunting and sad, I'll definitely be thinking about it for weeks. I love how the book explores human nature, and how people -- even in an environment like the main characters -- will always try to find meaning and make connections, even when their doomed future is carved in stone. It makes you wonder if it's all worth it -- love, friendship, dreaming about future plans -- if you already know how it's going to end. I also love the conclusion; there's no rebellion or loophole that fixes things. The characters simply move on and accept their fate. It really makes you think about how we just accept cruelty in our own world -- even more so, people will prefer to turn a blind eye to it, instead of being forced with the actual ethics behind it.
