Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
4.0
I'm still on the fence about a final rating for this book. I loved and hated it. Spoilers ahead
The ending...
I understand why Emma's trauma response was to run, but it frustrated me to no end. I hated that it took her 6 months of no contact with Justin, not even a few texts, before she could see him again. They couldn't even be friendly during that time apart?
Also, I didn't get Emma's want to break the curse, considering she didn't want to get serious with anyone anyway and only wanted herself to be on her 'island'. Seems like a great way to avoid commitment, which was great for her.
Appreciated the author note explaining Emma's actions and her aloofness because I felt it all through the book and felt horrible for Justin.
Things I loved...
Maddie and Justin. Honestly, they should have gotten together. Lol.
I also loved the Cameos. I nearly cried seeing Brianna and Jacob. I also want to read Part of Your World now that I know how it ties into this book.
Continuing with things I loved...the AITA theme throughout the story. Most of us have gotten lost down that reddit rabbit hole, and I was glad to see it included.
And most of all, the QUOTES were everything.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4
