Ninth house was difficult for me to get into. I'm a huge fan of Leigh Bardugo so I worried that maybe this series just wasn't for me.
I now see that the enthusiasm and research Bardugo out into this series hindered my ability to enjoy the first book. That same hindrance was not present in Hellbent for me.
Some of the characters are difficult to love. There's enough world building and knowledge to make your head turn. But the story is immersive and it brings you in.
I couldn't put it down after I got 50% of the way in. Alex Stern is a survivor, it's what she is, and I cannot wait to see who and what is left in her dust in book #3.
