The Last Threshold by R.A. Salvatore

4.0

It has been over four years since I read the last book in this series. Truth be told, I only picked this series back up because my friends and I are about to embark on a 5e game and I wanted to read The Sundering series. That series sets off the events of Forgotten Realms 5e lore. It just so happens that the first book in the Sundering series is the 24th book in the Drizzt series. And being the completionist that I am, I couldn't pick up the 24th book without reading the 23rd.

All of that to say, surprisingly, I really enjoyed this book. I don't think Drizzt did his "double x down" block move once in this book. I did skim some of the combat sequences, but for the most part, it didn't really bother me. I don't know if I just needed time away from the series or if this book is truly different, but it has reinvigorated me to keep going with this series and continue to read Forgotten Realms books as a whole.
