This book was definitely a challenge to get through, but it definitely paid off.

I really liked the way the characters were fully fleshed out, like for example, a character chose to give up fighting and instead chose to give in. Which was a good change... Besides, I really liked the character development from the characters and the characters in general...

The lay-out of the book, divided in three parts, with a prologue in which we see how the characters' lives played out after the main events of the book.

Normally, I'm not a big fan of a deus ex machina construction, but as it had been foreshadowed before, it made sense and I didn't really mind it in the end. But I guess it is logical some people would be bothered by it.

I also liked to see how certain traditions we see in The Priory in the Orange Tree started, like initiates of the priory soaking their white cloaks in the blood of their enemies and having a member protecting the Bereneths at all times.

Seeing more of the countries and different cultures in the world was very interesting. Personally, I don't think we'll every get another book in this world, just because it would be pretty repetitive. Except, getting a book in which we see the actual events that are told in the myths and folklore and the awakening of the Nameless One. I think a similar book would be really cool, but on the other hand, shouldn't those stories remain just that, stories??
