The Stationery Shop of Tehran by Marjan Kamali

5.0

I have one more book that I must give five stars. I think it is a six-star book. Yes, I usually read books set before and after the religious revolution of the 1970s. The Stationery Shop of Tehran is set during the 1950s, when there were fights for who should rule.
This book shows the culture through relationships, food, literature, and revolutions.
Marjan Kamali 's prose is captivating; when she talked about all the cooking of the food, my mouth was watering. Her description of Teheran, the ambiance, and the love between Roya & Bahman are so realistic. In those years, especially in the Middle East, relationships sometimes led to how it happened to our main characters.
The suspense of why - how come - and what happened- that broke up Roya and Bahman will keep you guessing to the end, and the only thing I will tell you is to read the book.
I wish there were more stores like Mr. Farhi's stationery shop these days, as today, we use smartphones, iPads, and tablets. We forget the pen pal way of writing letters and using unique papers, fountain pens, and inks.  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
