The Resort by Sarah Goodwin
5.0
The Resort is a standalone psychological thriller by author, Sarah Goodwin. This is the second book I have read by this author, the first being Stranded. The author is great at giving us characters in dire isolated atmospheric locations and this one is no exception. On their way to her sister’s wedding, Mila and her boyfriend, Ethan break down and are lost in a winter landscape when they come across some cabins where they will have to survive until rescue. When Mia wakes the next morning, Ethan is no where to be found. Hurt, alone and unsure what to do, Mia will have to survive more than just the cold if she wants to make it out. I’m unsure why the author chose to title this book the Resort, as this plays very little into the storyline. It probably would have made more sense to call it The Cabin. Despite this, the story is excellent, gripping and fast-paced. Some elements are a little predictable but that doesn’t detract from enjoying this book. While I wasn’t overly impressed with Stranded, I enjoyed this one a lot and will be keen to read more by this author. Thank you to Sarah Goodwin, the publisher and Netgalley for an opportunity to read an arc of this book.
