I guess this book is a good read for a first time dog owner if you have not read any other dog training books but it’s not that detailed and doesn’t really provide any actionable advice 
I would instead recommend
1.How to housebreak your dog in 7 days by Shirlee kalstone 
2.it’s me or the dog by Victoria Stilwell
