"you might be able to live without me, but i won't survive a day without you."
"you'd rather die than let go of the past?"
"i would rather die than live without you. you don't complete me, you're a part of me."
the ONLY reason this isn't a full 5 stars is because of how long it took me to get into this, but once i did... CHILE you would've had to pry this book from my cold, dead hands for me to put it down. from the relationship between annika and her brother, jeremy, to creighton and annika's relationship, to the plot twist, to just everything. creighton and annika literally own my heart, mind, body, and soul, oh my 😩.
annika volkov, the only daughter to lia and adrian volkov (monster trilogy), and the younger sister to jeremy volkov (god of wrath), is nothing short of a yapper. ballerina and purple, obsessed fashionista, i was deeply obsessed with how her and her brother were ride or die's for each other. they were like the sibling bonnie and clyde, if you will. but the way annika TOOK CREIGHTON OUT OF HIS SHELL to the point where not even his own BROTHER, cousins, and friends recognized him was insane ! that's wtf i'm talking about 🤣! how she defied her parents' wishes because she loved creighton that much, and (view spoiler) because the way i was sobbing, chile, idk how i made it.
"you win, little purple.... all of me. my heart, body, and soul are yours... i lost to you a long time ago. i love you, annika. i love you to the point where i see darkness without you and light only when i'm with you. you're my sanctuary and the one person who makes me whole."
creighton king. CREIGHTON. KING. where do i even begin? my selectively mute man had the filthiest mouth, like please it's always the quiet ones ! (view spoiler) that's love if i ever saw it, my oh my.
this book truly lived up to it's name because all i felt was PAIN at one point. and nothing but pain until the epilogue, chile. i need to read my baby jer's book asap (i alr started lmao) because i need his story, especially after reading his parents' and sister's story 🥺.
this damn book had me like that one girl screaming meme
