The audio book was narrated very well and the prose was great. And while, yes, it mostly stuck to the mythos we all know-
However, for a so called "feminist" perspective on the Trojan war, there's an awful lot of talk about men. Literally EVERY. SINGLE. CHAPTER. despite being told from a woman's perspective is them all talking about men and how their lives are effected or entirely revolve around men.
Also, a lot of slut shaming going around. They actually use the word 'slut'. And yet the glossing over of cheating men and making excuses for them is fine.
Yes, I did listen to the acknowledgements/afterward. Adding a footnote at the end of your book doesn't suddenly make it all a-okay.
Some women get their own chapters and then are never mentioned of again. So kinda sucks that the focus was so scattered across so many characters. I came to care for a character only to never hear the rest of her story.
Just a personal distaste- the story/chapters weren't in chronological order. So there was some time hopping around I found confusing at times.
