The Last Knight by Hilari Bell

Oh, what a fun book! It's funny, sarcastic, has a great friendship between the two main characters and some H/C too.

I love the growing and reculant friendship between Sir Michael, Knight errant, and Fisk, his grumbling squire who has been a con artist. I like how they grow from 'indepted man working for the one who has redeemed him' to real friendship. I like how they work from distrust to trust and that they are rubbing off on each other -> Fisk tries to be a bit more honest and, you know, rescues Micheal even though it would have been easier and safer to just go for help and Michael learns that sometimes it's better/safer to not speak the truth.

What surprised me that I liked very much in this book? The POVs. Every chapter is told either from the POV of Michael or Fisk - in the first person singular. But it works so well. So we have the thoughts of both on the things they went through and to read what they thought about each other? :D I also love the voices of Michael and Fisk so much. So funny. So sarcastic. ♥

I like that we just jump into the story. No epilogue or explaining how they met and so on (this is done during the book) but we meet Fisk and Michael while rescuing, what they think, is a damsel in distress. And then the adventure starts. :D

I also like the magic in the book. It's not overwhelming or the major plotline but it's there. And leads to some great moments. :)
