I was so excited to read this book because I loved other books such as Haunting Adeline and The MindF Series. The narration in this book was great and it was also a duet which is my favorite. The narrators did a wonderful job of portraying the characters. The main character Viola is an assassin and is sent on an undercover mission to take out the child of a criminal family.
My issues with this book is with the ages of the characters. In the first chapter of the book, Viola kills a man for touching a 15 y/o and then proceeds to have sex with a 17 y/o… There’s a lot of emphasis on different “pedos” of the story but Viola proceeds to commit the same acts… WEIRD. Even if the author made this situation seem consensual, it still made me uncomfortable. If the author simply aged up the characters and had this take place in a college rather than a high school, I probably would have enjoyed this book much more.
Furthermore the poly relationship fell flat for me. It appeared that Viola had actual feelings for only Lorcan and the others are just kind of there?
