Turning Angel by Greg Iles
4.0
Greg Isles is a great writer and this book does not disappoint as far as the main story line goes - enough twists and turns to keep you interested but not so complicated that it’s confusing.
My disappointment and reason for not giving 5 stars was the fact that in some cases Penn stooped to the level of Drew. Am I naive enough to believe that older men aren’t attracted to younger women? No, but would have been nice to have a character, especially one with a daughter, draw the line and not give into it at all. I don’t feel like the book gained anything from having Mia come on to Penn, because while I know these relationships exist, it becomes unbelievable to me that in a class of 20 seniors at least 3 of them are pursuing inappropriate relationships with significantly older men. If I could have tweaked the book in one way, I would have been happier seeing Mia dating a college guy - she could understand wanting to reach beyond high school for a man that is more mature than the boys around her without the taint of it being a completely inappropriate relationship.
