The Dawn and Its Light by Piper C.J.

4.0

I enjoyed this series. I loved the different perspectives of the characters, not will fitting into a binary world that most fantasy does pertaining to sexuality.

The story was really well written until the last 50 pages. The last 50 pages left me as angry as the last season of the show Game of Thrones. To which, ironically enough I believe the author dedicates the book to GRRM. Pages 1-501, excellent story telling. The true conclusion left me wondering what editor cut out the details in order to get page count down.

The ending for me flopped big time. It had the ability to have multiple climatic battle scenes and see characters meet their poetic fates. Instead, we see the loss of one character whose storyline in this book wasn't the strongest, meet their end in about a sentence. Then three pages following on mourning the loss.

The ending is terrible. There's no way around it. It's such a shame because of the beautiful story this this began and grew from. The ending was rushed and it shows. Do yourself a favor and skip the last 50 pages. I'll help you out, here goes: you have no idea why anything was and things just seem to be ok.
