The Eye in the Door by Pat Barker
4.0
I loved Regeneration and expected to love The Eye in the Door. It was great, but I had to read past the overarching plotlines to enjoy it.
I just couldn't bring myself to care about the trial that forms part of the story arc.
The actual characters, however, and their exchanges, are brilliant. This series dramatizes basic human psychology in an unusual and satisfying way, making us question what is aberrant and what is "normal".
