Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones

My copy has "queen of the fantastic" on the cover above DWJ's name which i think is interesting because i really think she's more queen of the mundane. She's sooooooo good at creating characters that feel real, with all the little things about a person a normal author wouldn't think to put in. And she's especially good at horrible adults and their everyday evil.

I found her essay that was included in the back very interesting as well.
