Razor Girl by Carl Hiaasen

5.0

In this second Andrew Yancy book, Andrew's love interest is pulled from the headlines of a May 2010 Key West auto accident - but the rest of the book is pure Hiaasen imagination. Buck Nance, the star of a reality show about three brother rooster farmers from the Bayou disappears after a public performance goes bad in the Keys. His agent never showed up to help keep him focused, Why? The agent was mistaken for Marty Trebeaux, a "sand salesman" who restores beaches for resorts and is being sought out by a man with NYC Mafia ties for selling sand that was mostly shards of glass.
In the meantime - the lot next to Andrew's house has been purchased by a litigation lawyer who wants to build a McMansion for his bride-to-be - and begins using the erection enhancing product that he is currently suing. Andrew is searching for Buck Nance - because he believes he is wanted for manslaughter. Actually - that was a fan of Buck Nance and the Bayou Brothers who kidnaps Buck and his agent - and negotiates a deal to be on the show. The book is peppered with classic Hiaasen lines that made me laugh. And why else do you read Carl's books if not to enjoy yourself?
