🌊πŸŽͺ This was such an unexpectedly fun read. After reading The Night Circus and finding it lacklustre I expected to find all circus settings disappointing. This was a very unique and interesting world setting that I would have loved to dive into more. The characters did their job even if they were a bit two-dimensional. The setting and plot made up for any of these lacks. The wonders of the sea were truly captured. I loved how the sea was juxtaposed with the few landmasses left in the world and the exploration of conflicting ways of life, where people are either sea-dwellers (damplings) or land-bound (landlockers). However my one major gripe with this book was the speed at which it ended. That ending felt way too rushed to me, but i’m still satisfied enough. Hope to read more books that surprise and awe me this year! 🌿🌻
