While I enjoyed book 1 and book 3 of this series, this one….missed the mark for me.
The story itself overall was ok but there was a lot that I could’ve done without. The book could’ve absolutely been at least 100 pages shorter. There wasn’t that much happening to warrant 300 pages. Again I’ve read a couple of the authors other books but this one really felt like she wrote it specifically for the TikTok only book girlies. [Absolutely no shade here, I myself am a booktoker. I mean the ones who only pick up a book they see is popular on the app and that’s the only reason for reading it. The book has to have all the right popular words and such to even be considered good.] The conversations between characters didn’t flow organically, and there was way more telling than showing.
The base story is kind of cute, but it feels like there was a pressure to stuff as much as possible in this book, so by the time we actually get to the romance, you almost forgot it was the whole point. The reasons the fmc had for not being with the mmc were talked around for more than half of the book, and the “twist” was….pointless?
I just wish this story had been kept to its more base layer and it would’ve been a more enjoyable read.
