As a last-ditch effort to save humanity, a small group of scientists and military personnel are sent to a planet that feels tailored to the exact conditions humanity needs. It's an expedition following that of one that had happened years before, leaving a sole survivor. Jill Jones' mother was the only one to return to Earth, and now Jill wants to finish what her mother started, and find a place humanity can live.

Whatever it is Meg Smitherman is doing, it's working for me. Swallowed is the kind of horror that starts you in an embrace and you don't even realize what you're in for until it's too late. The characters are lovable, and from the very beginning you feel like you're friends with them. The story is compelling. Smitherman's descriptions of the Planet are beautiful, and it almost seems like a place you want to visit. Almost.

Honestly, my only problem with this book is the same one I had with Thrum: it's too short and I want more.

Swallowed is the second horromance novella from Meg Smitherman. I would suggest it to anyone who read and enjoyed Thrum, or who likes the concept of a doomed expedition.

I will devour anything Meg Smitherman writes.
