The premise was interesting, the writing wasn't bad, but Katie. Katie, for me, started as an OK character and it just went downhill. I found her to be irritating and I felt that the praise she received was unfounded because she accidentally stumbled on scenes, instead of doing hard investigative police work. The only good part was her dog.

It took me over a month to even think about going back to this book, and after a chapter, I decided to stop.

I was looking forward to this one, because I'm always looking for strong female detectives, and her background in the military was intriguing, but instead, this just fell flat.
