Deadmen Walking by Sherrilyn Kenyon

1.0

As a lover of dark fantasy I expected to thoroughly enjoy this book. I came in looking for pirate fantasy and oh boy did I get so much more!

This book jams in... are you ready!

Pagan magic
Devils
Mermen
Necromancy
Druids
Tree people
Pirates
Witches
Angels
Djinn
Loa
Norse mythos
Greek mythos
Pagan mythos
Dragons
Water sprites
And ...
Lovecraftian monsters

All of this in 300 pages no less! And also 1.5 romances are crammed in.

All the male characters ooze masculinity and hotness as do all the female characters who charm with their feminine whiles.

All of these creatures have several names you will struggle to remember and will honestly have little to no impact on the story.

This book is unfortunately just a series of what I would call “random encounters” that are filler for quite a loose plot.

I’m afraid I won’t be reading the next book in the series and unless YA (over the top) fantasy (cringe) romance is your bag, then I don’t recommend you do either.
