This was a good book!!!! I had such an amazing time reading it.
The writing was beautiful, I loved the cards at the start of each chapter.
The magic system was very unique. I don't think I've read a magic system like it. I loved that it was a magic system with consequences, it makes everything seem so much more realistic and raises the stakes. And that there were multiple parts to it - the cards and the infected.
The nightmare .... I've such a soft spot for him. One, he was so funny. Two, I loved learning his history/origin.
Ravyn. I adored him. He fell for Elspeth so fast and she was so blind to it.
And Elspeth, god I wanted to shake her a couple times. Like girl read between the lines, stop being so daft. But I really enjoyed her.
It had such an amazing cast of side characters!! I cannot wait to see more of them.
I loved the foreshadowing of what was going to happen, it was done brilliantly. And there was a couple of twists that I didn't see coming and had me shocked!!
It was all just done so beautifully. The characters, romance, magic system, plot, worldbuilding/history, atmosphere were all woven together so beautifully.
I don't have anything negative to say about this book at all!!!
