I think I might have read this before, not sure but it's certainly familiar (the film version is excellent though obviously quite different).

There's some lovely language and great imagery as the initial sci-fi aspect merges to a fairy tale mythology that introduces the brilliant space-bat-angel-dragon and a charming plea for peace and harmony.

I wasn't a big fan of the illustrations from Laura Carlin though they work well in the book with some great layouts. A good fairy tale for younger readers.
