The Red Palace by June Hur

3.0

I simply can not give it more than 3 or 3.5 .

Maybe I am the problem, but I was promised to have a kdrama vibes but you know what kdramas have ? Emotions, people, EMOTIONS.

I can't deny how dry the relationship between hyeon and eojin was, I didn't like hyeon at all and wasn't an interesting character for me just a stubborn girl that's it, yet she was cold and it feels like I am reading a crime documents.

I have to say I get surprised by the end of the book but get so confused about the crown prince, like what happened? I am supposed to read Prince Sado life story to know what he did and how his life goes by ? And if the book was inspired by him, he has like 2 or 3 scene the whole book?

I have high expectations for this one yet I am so sad, I have been watching kdramas since middle school and I enjoy its world and stories so the titles and traditions wasn't new for me at all but I notice that the author was so busy describing the formal life and etiquettes more than make the readers want to continue reading with balance of the story and the educational subtext.

The end was rushed, The most important scene I was waiting for with the king was just 2 sentence? You are kidding me.

I like the author herself and I will absolutely read her other books and I am waiting for her next one. But I hope they are better than this one.
