In a society where many people are moving away from the "old fashioned" ways of living and gravitating towards a more technology focused world, has it ever crossed your mind what would happen if, one day, that suddenly got took away without warning? Do you have a back up plan? Do you trust that the government has?
As a debut, this was impressive. Whilst (i assume) this book is a work of fiction, it's eerie how much it mirrors the current state the UK is in. Don't get me wrong, technology is great but working in retail, I've witnessed first hand the mass panic it causes when technology fails and your standing at a till unable to pay for your shopping. No one seems to carry cash anymore. Why?! In my view why fix something that isn't broken, especially when the upgraded version clearly isnt foolproof?
I admit, I'm not hugely interested in finance or the political aspects of the world but what lured me into this read was the Seven Deadly Sins spin on a Who Done It mystery and I wasn't disappointed. Its a chunky book at 576 pages, but I whizzed through it in 7 days and learned so much. I did guess who it was very early on but I love a bit of cyber crime, and as a whole, this had such an interesting, unique concept that I was completely gripped, so the fact I knew, didn't take away burning questions of why and how. I also learned so much about finance, the government and political power along the way.
