The Angel by Tiffany Reisz
5.0
"Is kink your answer for everything Eleanor?"..."It’s just the answer for everything sexual."
Once again I am stunned and speechless by Tiffany Reisz and her gorgeous style of writing. I like to say while The Siren sat me on my ass, The Angel kicked my ass. I am sure by the time we get to the conclusion of the story arc and the 8th book I will be in a full body cast. It has taken me three weeks to wrap my head around enough syllables to form complete sentences and review this book.
With the emotional ending of The Siren fresh on the mind we begin The Angel, 1 ½ years after SIREN ended. We see Nora and Søren together, content in their relationship but with a ghost hanging around. Enter one ominous fax putting suspicion on Søren and we meet Suzanne. A reporter with her own ghosts whom is willing to do anything AND everything to find out the truth of our beloved Priest from Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
"I am not blind. I know exactly what I am looking at. An anonymous tip that says something’s rotten in the state of Wakefield. And I’m going to find what it is."
Søren does not want Nora or Michael to have to subjugate into lying for him so he orders Nora to take Michael away. Griffin, our trust fund baby and resident tattooed bad boy, has offered them asylum at his country estate. With their past relationship between them, just who will be running this show?
"You don’t get to top me anymore. This summer, you’re my bitch, switch."
Nora is once again in her element with these boys, regardless of who is topping whom. Our Mistress never loses her wit, humor, intelligence or ability to draw you in wanting to follow her every movement, word, thought and longing. The longing is what does this reader in.
Once everyone gets settled, the story starts to get interesting. We get introduced to Suzanne and her life including her long term boyfriend. They have a troubled past and this reporter digging into Søren does not help matters, really doesn’t help her when she meets him face to face. I strongly agree with her visceral reaction!
Back at the Fiske estate another tale is brewing and one that leaves me breathless just thinking about it. Without giving anything away I will say whatever feelings you had for Griffin in SIREN you will fall in love with him without a doubt in ANGEL. He has moved up the ranks on my list of swoon worthy Original Sinners
One of the loveliest additions to this book is we finally get Michael’s voice. The beautiful angel spreads his wings and we hear him speak. His tale is one that will break your heart, his journey is not an easy one but one I was humbled to witness his transformation.
We get a lot of questions answered yet at the same time more are presented. I can say that I was shocked at each secret as it was revealed and never prepared for the emotions that came along with them. So much is learned about Søren that a re-read is in order to take it all in. There was a time I had to put my Nook down and walk away from the story; it was that intense that I just couldn’t read anymore.
"Hell punished sin. Purgatory burned it away. She’d like to keep her sins, thank you very much. No matter how much they hurt."
The Angel is a wonderful tale of risk, love, forgiveness and sacrifice. I will say that if you have NOT read all the prequels and short stories from Ms. Reisz please do so before reading The Angel, you will miss out on SO much if you don’t! We delve much deeper into the lives of The Original Sinners and get a glimpse into their future whether we agree with it or not. I anxiously await the release of The Prince.
"Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."
I received this ARC from Harlequin via Netgalley.
