So many things make this book just average. Length - 433 pages is too long for this story. It could have been told better in 200-250 pages. Incomplete storylines - is she becoming an alcoholic/addict? Was the book shop owner truly crazy, or obsessed but ultimately correct? The horse - no explanation given as to why that happened; why? Why isn't the full story of her father's final decision explained- did he know something? Why isn't the full story with her husband explained? Extraneous characters - the BBQ place, the Cafe? Pointless to even add them in. The woman at the cabin - not once does she ever ask any of the other characters about her, just accepts it as is.
Most annoying, imo, by the middle of part 1 I figured out what was going on. Not the specific details, but enough that it's taken me six months to finish this book. Not horrible, but not fantastic either.
