Such a fun book! 😍 Clearly very much inspired by fanfiction (which is something I LOVE!!!). And I really liked how self-aware the author was; the characters straight up said that the things that were happening in the book sounded like a fanfic lol. 🀣 This book was just really cheeky and fun!

The story is quite cheesy (I mean: academic rivals find out they're soulmates, reluctantly start fake-dating to stop people from teasing them, become friends, and then start developing romantic feelings....... CMONNNN you've definitely seen MULTIPLE stories like this on AO3! πŸ˜…). Here's the thing, though: I'm a sucker for cute, lighthearted, fun fanfiction, so this book was just *~delicious~* for someone like me! πŸ˜™πŸ€Œ

I really liked seeing Arthur starting to notice more things about Mika, and enjoying his company, and missing him.... Seeing him slowly fall for Mika was just πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ. That scene where they "had" to give each other hickeys to keep up with one of the lies Arthur told and so people wouldn't suspect they weren't actually dating, and then Arthur realized "He wasn’t nervous. He was excited." LITERALLY HAD ME GIGGLING 🫨🫣😳😏. Likeeeeeee I'm SORRY but it's just some good fucking food, if you enjoy cheese! Overall, there were soooo many scenes that had me smiling at my screen, and feeling butterflies in my stomach! This book was just super cute and fun!! 🀭🀭🀭

There are some things I didn't love:

➨ There is an instance where the godforsaken like β€œhe let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding in.” was used (this could be the author just being cheeky and including it as a meme bc she KNOWS it's overused, but to me that crossed a line; any variation of that quote is UNFORGIVABLE to me 😀).
➨ Arthur and Mika's classmates (who were supposedly ~21) literally acted like immature 15 year-olds, and it was honestly ridiculous.
➨ The 3rd act breakup had kinda stupid reasoning, but it provided some good angst, I guess.
➨ What happened to Arthur's job at the library? Did he stop working and I missed it? Also, at some point, Arthur's friends and family became kind of irrelevant. Thankfully, the friends came back in the end, and I really liked their friendship. The family was barely mentioned, though.
➨ The scenes where Arthur and Mika prompose/ask each other out/dance in front of the whole class and then everybody starts clapping were just a little bit *too* ridiculous for me.
➨ Mika ignoring his girlfriend's concerns was very icky to me, especially because she was so sweet and understanding. I wish he'd broken up with her sooner. Cherry deserves better.
➨ Terms like "boy-sweat-skin", "boy-sweat-Old Spice", "boy-sweat-aftershave-Mika" were mentioned muuuultiple times, and I just think that's a very weird (and repetitive) way of talking about Mika's scent lol
➨ I would've reeeally liked to see more of Mika's POVs!!!!. He clearly fell in love first, and I would've looooooved to see the flirty, cocky character just being *so down bad* for the oblivious nerd (I literally eat that trope up every! single! time!) 🀧. I wish we'd seen more of Mika's thoughts during this time. Missed opportunity. πŸ˜”

But, overall, this was a super fun book, perfect for all fanfic enjoyers out there!!! πŸ˜‹πŸ«Ά
