Underfire is a book that details the life of a French squad struggling on the Western Front of World War One. This book is interesting because it had many low points that made me skim through it, but when it shined it really shined hard. The best example of when the book was great was the chapter where they invaded a German trench. It showcases the awfulness of the war and how there was no glory in the victories the troops gained. Really the takeaway from this book is how awful war is.
