Haunt by Christina Maraziotis
5.0
I've read a lot of books in my life that I've enjoyed, but I've never felt a story like I did this one. The plot may seem simple - a 26 year old setting out on a journey for a better life after her mother's murder - but you are in for a complete shock.
Haunt is a DEEP story that will force you to feel an abundance of emotions. The characters are complex and their development as the story progresses is top tier - you will fall in love with them, then hate them, then love them again, only to be utterly blown away by their fate. It's a thick book, but every single word written has a purpose and there is so much adventure and life within the pages. This is not your typical love story.

Quick intro of some of the characters:
Charlotte: She may be young and naive, but she's never been on her own out in the world. She's learning, challenging herself, making mistakes but growing - you can't fault her for that.
Mac: An outlaw, cold-blooded killer with a haunting story behind the scars that cover his body. I love his grunts and Irish sayings.
Will: A hopeless romantic with a good heart.
Levi: A Norwegian beast of a man with a charming personality...until he's not.
JB: A character with zero filter and a heart of gold who will have you laughing hysterically with his quirky personality.

If you do read Haunt, and I really hope you do, the best advice I can give you is to find a quiet spot when you're nearing the end of the book because you will cry some of the ugliest tears you've ever cried and will appreciate the privacy ๐ญ
