Daughter of Time by Sarah Woodbury

3.0

Very much not a typical read for me. I never thought I'd EVER read a "romance" novel. But, it wasn't very heavy into that particular genre (at least I don't think it was). The time travel part was very sudden at the beginning and the end. The rest of the book had a decent story and (what really turned me on to it) it was set, relatively accurately I think, in the mid 1200's in Wales.

Having a modern day woman and her daughter transported back in time and across the Atlantic to be rescued from drowning in the marsh where her car wrecked by the last price of Wales (who was actually from Wales) Llywelyn Ein Llyw Olaf. It was really interesting reading about history with which I was not familiar. It has inspired me to go and actually look up and read about this area of history.

I also greatly enjoyed hearing different names such as Dafydd (sounds very close to David) and Gruffydd ap Gwenwynwyn (ap Gwen-wenwen is how it sounded). That was one of the best parts of listening to the audio book for this tale... I would NEVER have thought about or figured out exactly how to pronounce lots of the names of people and places.
