I bought this book years ago and watched it collect dust week after week, sitting unmoving on my shelf. Picking it up last night was a spur-of-the-moment decision but my God am I glad I decided to read it. I quite literally could not go to sleep without reading it all from start to finish and come the next day, my heart was yearning and my stomach was twisting and I felt so sick. The portrayal of the characters and the absolute emotional rollercoaster Miller takes us on are both done incredibly well and by the end of the novel I was sobbing like I had just experienced sadness for the first time. I’m so grateful for the final lines of the book because I think I’d be in true despair without them. The blossoming and changing relationship between Patroclus and Achilles was riveting and I’d do anything to read even just a little more about them. A must-read, for sure.
