I went into this with too much expectation after reading the Winternight trilogy which I really loved. 

This book starting off great. I love historical fiction and loved the idea of a supernatural/fantasy aspect. But to be honest the whole fiddler story went over my head with the religious aspects of it. It dragged in the middle. Then ending was….rushed? The romances just appeared and felt unnecessary and would have been better left out especially Winter and Freddie. Like Winter was just happy to leave his life behind and move to Canada with a man and a woman he’d just met and had this absolutely awful traumatic experience with. 🤷‍♀️
