A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
↠ 5 stars ⭐️
A Court of Wings and Ruin, you say? YUP IT RUINED ME. Consider me wrecked. Name an emotion, and I felt it while reading this. Anger. Fear. Sorrow. Absolute distress. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so many SEPARATE times in a book. Sarah J Maas is officially getting my therapy bill. She and Rebecca Yarros can split it at this point.
I adored this book. I was hooked from the beginning. I could not, would not put it down. My fiancé had to remind me to eat. I forgot to pee. I was 500 pages and 13 hours of audio through it within a day. And it was only my own audacity to be a good employee and go to work the next day that kept me from staying up until the asscrack of dawn to finish it. I want to reread this book five million times. Inject it into my veins. Become one with it.
This book is everything. I think I enjoyed this so thoroughly because I had no prior knowledge of anything going into it, unlike the first two in the series. With ACOTAR, I knew not to get attached to Tampon. In ACOMAF, I knew Rhys and Feyre end up together eventually. But ACOWAR, I knew NOTHING. And that made this experience all the more extraordinary.
That being said, I am keeping this review to a simple fangirl session and stating absolutely nothing else. The plot is complex and enthralling, full of unpredictable twists and turns and blind-sidings. This book will break you ten times and then somehow put you back together again. And while romance is usually my favorite part of any story, I really liked how it took the backseat here. Not to say there wasn’t any, because of course there was. But I think I enjoyed witnessing Feyre and Rhysand strengthen their relationship outside of romance, if that makes sense. And as usual, the characters are amazing. As if I didn’t already love Feyre, I love her even more after this. She is so incredibly fierce, both in strength and heart. And I have to say it again RHYS. IS. PERFECT. I love him so fucking much. The inner circle. I felt like I was part of them while reading this. I loved learning more about them individually and seeing different sides of them.
Anyway, this was a masterpiece. I adore it. And it is my current favorite of the series.
