Playing the Moldovans at Tennis by Tony Hawks
4.0
Bloody hilarious. This guy took on an absolutely stupid bet that he could take on and beat every member of the Moldovan football team. At tennis. This documents how he had a go at it. Most of the story takes place in Moldova, which sounds thoroughly dispiriting and completely Eastern Bloc, even almost a decade after the fall of the Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain. The nature of football teams means he also had to travel to Northern Ireland and Israel to play all the Moldovans. The tennis itself didn’t seem to be a big problem. Just getting a chance to play was. Want to read his other books now.
