**UPDATE**
I reread this book and it was just as impactful the second time around. I forgot a lot of the little things. This book makes me furious at our justice system and it's sad to see that not much as changed since this book came out. Bryan Stevenson is an amazing human being. I think this book should be required reading.
Bryan Stevenson is an attorney that works at the Equal Justice Initiative, which is an organization that works with imprisoned men and women that did not get fair trials. He tries to get these people reduced sentences or freedom. This is his book about how he got into doing what he does. He talks about the many different people that he has helped or tried to help. He specifically talks about the case of Walter, a man that was wrongly accused of murdering a woman and was put on death row.
I had read earlier this year the book The Sun Does Shine, which is by one of the men that Bryan Stevenson got off of death row (he is briefly mentioned in this book), so I was more familiar with Bryan and the work that he does. This books goes more into his side of the story and all of the injustices that there are for poor people of color. It really is amazing and heartbreaking. His book definitely can change peoples' minds about the prison system and especially the death penalty. I am in awe by people like Bryan who give so much of themselves to help others. This book is definitely eye opening about our justice system and a great read.
