I recently discover the work of Vincenzo Balzano, which is the illustrator of that book. I love his works. his style, remind me a bit of Jeff Lemire in some way. Unfortunately he only did the art and not the story. The story was okay, nothing bad in it, just very light and slow so I didn't enjoy it very much.

I think that younger reader might enjoy it more, could be a good way to get into a different style of comic and into a weird fantasy word with great artwork. Maybe not... but I think it might.
