Other than the short stories compilation this is the end of the first series, and it goes out with a punch. It’s the most gruesome of the series. A lot of the arcing storylines have come to their conclusion and there are still a lot of parts that are up in the air but I enjoyed how everything tied together.
Hazard finally has the answer to the question that has haunted him for most of his life, and boy was I not expecting that outcome to what happened to Jeff. Mikey showed just how much of an unbalanced individual he actually is. The Mayor after interfering in their cases from the start dropped his act and showed Hazard his true personality and I truly believe both got off easy.
The guys had to work through their personal issues, especially the issues they each had about their relationship and trust each other to use their strengths to solve the case and come away with their lives.
I must admit I have issues with Cravens and was glad when Hazard laid it all out, she deserved to be brought to task for her role. I didn’t have an issue with Hazard resigning as I believe he couldn’t work for someone he didn’t respect and he didn’t trust Cravens. He’ll also do better without the rules and regulations. He is not a company man, he won’t play the game just to keep higher ups happy. He needs peace on his life and the job just wasn’t giving him that.
It’s taken me a while to work my way through but very enjoyable series.
