Like all the books in the Loveletting series, Slave was an emotional rollercoaster filled with so many precious, vulnerable, tender, horrific, and memorable moments. We're taken on a journey to some of the darker parts of Mac's past and witness a softer side of him slowly emerge as Charlotte and Jesse weaken those stubborn walls of his ever so slightly. I lived for every single moment shared between him and Charlotte. In some ways, I felt like I was transported back to Haunt, watching two strangers discover each other. And when he would speak to her in his Irish ways? Ugh, my heart ๐ซ

As much as Tilghman made me laugh (that 'progressive' saloon scene: โ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ช๐ญ๐ญ๐ฃ๐ช๐ญ๐ญ๐บโฆ๐ ๐ข๐ช๐ฏโ๐ต ๐ข ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฏ ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ด๐ฆ, ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ช๐ฆ๐ด!โ ๐ I was wheezing as much as Roger), my heart ached for him and all he lost and may still lose. And a clean-shaven Marshal??? I need to see that, especially after Charlotte's description of a "wrinkled slimy snail".
Jesse remains my absolute favourite. He never fails to bring the biggest smile to my face - whether heโs tossing out insults, offering his inexperienced advice, grumbling about Macโs cheese smellinโ boots ๐, or simply being his lovable, sweetheart self.

If there's one thing you can expect in this series, it's that Charlotte will undoubtedly find herself in trouble. The Armstrong mansion? I have no words for the horrors that lurk within! I can't wait to see what happens next. What a beautifully written and captivating book!
