“Isn’t life more freeing when you just let go?”
I have such a strange relationship with this series, on the one hand I love how it takes an amazing concept and elevates it even further, making you root for characters who you know without a doubt will die by the end. But it also gives me so much dread when reading them, knowing that for every happy moment there will be devastation waiting. These are great books honestly, I’m just not sure if I can read another Death-cast book if it comes out, for the sake of my heart. I will probably watch a youtube video spoiling it though and pat myself on the back for not subjecting myself to more tears. Still, would highly recommend these books to anyone who thinks they can take it. So far I have read Silvera’s More Happy Than Not, History is All You Left Me, They Both Die at the End and now The First to Die at the End.
I’d say History is All You Left Me is my favourite out of them, I may try some of his other books in the future if he has any happier ones? Anyway, one hell of an experience reading these. Adam Silvera is the king of sad gay books.
I know for a fact if Death-cast existed in the real world I would never sign up for it, because knowing when I’m going to die would be the literal death of me. 🌿🌻
