First off, I am very much in the middle about this book. I do not necessary dislike it but I do not love it either. It felt like a textbook young adult fiction that was released during the hype of all vampire stories. (Which happened many years ago...) And while you could argue a certain fandom's renaissance is currently happening, there was nothing special about this book that put it higher than other young adult books that I have read. It felt a bit young and the love side of the story was a bit much sometimes. Grace, our main character, within moments of meeting Jaxon, our love interest, is obsessed with him and most of the decisions she makes is surrounded by him. (Maybe my age is showing even though I am in my twenties...) It did take about half way through the book to finally get introduced to the world of vampires, witches, and swifters. I am not surprised by this but I do find it tiresome. And the ending, Grace is now in frozen state because she saved Jaxon. Also I am still confused on why she was targeted to die by Lia. Was it because she was the mate of Jaxon or something in her bloodline? At the current moment, I am unsure if I will continue on with the series.
