Perspective: first person from both the hero and heroine but mostly from heroine
More character focused or plot focused? character-ish? Maybe just sex?

Why I chose this book: I actually can’t recall how it got on my radar….I think from following @fern.does.books on instagram, I started following Molly Likovich and wanted to try it.

A tarot card.
Death.
I look up over the bridge and see a looming shadow at the other end. I take a step back, suddenly feeling like the biggest idiot in the world for coming out here alone. Idiot horror movie maiden – party of one.
The wind howls and with it, a deep, rumbling voice speaks.
Come to me.

Should I read in order?
This is the first in Likovich’s Sexy Sleepy Hollow series.

Basic plot:
Arletta is kidnapped by the Headless Horseman on Halloween.

Give this a try if you want:
- monster romance
- Sleepy Hollow
- a playlist to go with your read
- Halloween vibes!
- witch heroine that does tarot, crystals, palm reading, pendulum, ruins…
- abducted heroine
- hero washes the heroine
- kinks include some levels of roughness, D/s elements (punishment and hero wants to be called ‘master’), praise, wax/candle play, spanking
- mid to higher steam – this is a shorter book with 4ish scenes but the scenes are rather short

Ages:
- heroine is 28, hero is a few hundred years old (late 1700s)

First line:
Let it hereby be known that I, Arletta Harrington, do not believe in Death.

My thoughts:
I was hoping I would love this one more than I did! I’m not sure what I was expecting. Maybe the more modern feel to the writing took me a bit to get used to. (I dove in blindly and was maybe thinking it was more historical setting). The spicy scenes were a bit too short for me and I wanted a bit more emotional connection with the mains.

Overall though this is a fun, spicy romp perfect for a quick and spooky read. If you’re okay with a kidnapping and kink elements, add this to the fall line up! I’m always here for a Sleepy Hollow tale, or Headless Horseman romp….

Cock/Hero Stats

- our hero is ‘an eight-foot-tall man clad in black, muscles so big that his clothes stretch taut across his body, and nothing but that goddamn pumpkin on his shoulders’
- hero is well endowed but it’s not really described?
- hero runs around with a carved pumpkin on his shoulders but removes it in his realm

Few random reading stats for this author
# of books read: 2
Average rating: 4 stars
Favorite book: Probably this one so far

Content warnings: These should be taken as a minimum of what to expect. It’s very possible I have missed some.

- death of a family member (grandmother)
- mention of a prior toxic relationship
Author content warnings? Yes, she has them on her website

Locations of kisses/intimate scenes, safe sex aspects, consent, pregnancy/child in the story:

Safe sex:
There’s a mention of ‘I’m going to take a wild guess that birth control isn’t going to be an issue here. I never heard of anyone getting pregnant from an agent of doom and gloom.’., but overall no safe sex

Hows the consent?
I wouldn’t read this if you want consent in your books. It’s dubious at best because the hero doesn’t take no for an answer and kidnaps the heroine.

Pregnancy/children in story? (Please note this is the best to my memory/note taking. If you see something I missed please feel free to message!)
No children, pregnancy, or talk of children other than the birth control comment above.

41% - nipple play, fingering for her, clit slapping
58% - fingering for her
75% - spanking and sex against the bed post
91% - kisses, her on top, oral for her
