My Roommate Is a Vampire by Jenna Levine
4.0
Cassie Greenleaf was a struggling artist. Working two jobs, Cassie still had difficulty making ends meet. Add insult to injury, Cassie was being evicted from her apartment.
Desperate to find alternate living quarters, Cassie discovers a steal of a deal. Cassie just needed to agree to be a roommate at $200 per month. Cassie couldn’t pass up such a golden opportunity. A furnished room with utilities included. So, she takes the plunge. Little did Cassie know that her new roommate, Frederick Fitzwilliam, would be like a throwback to the regency-era generation. And with eccentric mannerisms, Frederick would be a stranger than fiction housemate.
My Roommate Is a Vampire was a fun read. Witty, humorous and entertaining. The novel combined elements from the movies, Twilight as well as Kate & Leopold.
There were a few adult scenes that could make some readers blush. But if you’re a reader that enjoys some steam, those scenes just added a little kick to an otherwise tame novel.
I loved all of the characters in the novel. They ranged the gamut from quirky and snarky, to practical and conventional. They were fun to hang out with, even if just for 352 pages.
For the most part, My Roommate Is a Vampire was very enjoyable and would have garnered 5 stars from me. However, there was one scene that didn’t quite fit in the overall scheme of things. And it threw the momentum off balance. Still, My Roommate Is a Vampire was a novel worthy of 4 excellent stars.
I received a DRC from Berkley Publishing Group through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
