The 9.9 Percent: The New Aristocracy That Is Entrenching Inequality and Warping Our Culture by Matthew Stewart

informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

Definitely recommend. Not a fun read, and the people who should read it, well I'm not sure they would; too busy competing with each other in order to maintain their status. The parallels between historical events and now is distressing: we're sliding right into the very thing our (US) country set out to correct. Economic inequality is the baseline problem that must be solved before we have a chance at doing anything substantial with all the other crises we face. And it's not solved through "personal responsibility," policy change is required.
